General
In accordance with references A and B, the time has now come for the present incumbents holding the executive posts are to step down after having successfully completed their full term of 2 years at the posts. The present incumbents will step down on Sat, 24 Mar 2012.
Aim
The aim is to invite the prospective candidates for the forthcoming election in order to conduct the election as swiftly as possible and to form the new executive committee.

The Election Committee has been tasked to conduct an election under the rules of the constitution to form a new Executive Committee. The Election Committee will be responsible for electing/selecting the positions of the following:
a. The chairman
b. Vice Chairman
c. General secretary
d. Secretary
i. Treasurer
j. Assistant Treasurer
g. Co-ordinator
h. 2 x Representatives of Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK
i. 2 x Representatives of Barpak Samaj UK
j. 1 x Representative of Gorkha Zilla Magar Samaj UK
k. 1 x Representative of Lig Lig Kot Samaj UK
l. 1 x Representative of Amah Samuha Farnborough
m. 1 x Representative of Amah Samuha London
Eligibility for Voters:- In order to qualify for voting, voters must be:
a. Aged 21 or over.
b. Has obtained a valid Ordinary or a Life Membership. Those whose
memberships have expired will not be eligible to vote.
c. Only one vote is allowed per person.
d. People who obtained memberships on the day shall be allowed to vote.
Eligibility for prospective candidates
All those who wish to forward their names for the post of Chairman/Chairperson is to note the following important criteria, which are imperative in order to qualify to be a prospective candidate:
a. Prospective candidates must hold valid memberships.
b. Prospective candidates must have served at least one full term in the executive
b. Prospective candidates must have served at least one full term in the executive
Committee.
c. Aged 25 or over.
Prospective candidates for other posts are to meet the voters’ eligibility criteria.
Nominations
a. Those who wish to forward their nominations for the above posts are to do so by providing their full name and contact address to the election committee by no later than close of play of Friday, 10th March 2012.
b. Please forward your nominations either by Email or text stating the post you are vying for.
c. Please take note of the date and forward your nominations on time to avoid any disappointment.
d. In the event of nought nomination for the post, the existing incumbent shall be elected/selected to continue at the post for next tenure.
e. The General Secretary of all organisations (sisters) are requested to forward the names of their representatives to the Election Committee by 10th of March 2012.
Withdrawal of Nominations
Due to unforeseen circumstances, should any of the candidates need to withdraw their nominations, then it must be done by close of play Friday, 16th of March 2012.
Conclusion
We would like to urge all members to participate on the day and be a proud member of GoSUK. The members’ participations on the election are uttermost important. It will play a vital role to encourage the Samaj for the future operation. Please disseminate the information as widely as possible.
